Mouna Sadli

Mouna Sadli was born in Tetouan, in northern Morocco, where she grew up immersed in a rich artistic and cultural environment. From an early age, she was inspired by the sight of her mother painting and soon began taking drawing and painting classes with renowned artists from the School of Tetouan.
After obtaining her high school diploma, she found herself torn between her two passions: mathematics and painting. Reason led her toward advanced studies in mathematics: preparatory classes for engineering schools, followed by a doctorate and post-doctorate work carried out in France, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Yet throughout her academic journey, she never abandoned her true calling: painting.
Over the years, Mouna pursued independent technical training and participated in workshops with various artists. She studied oil painting with Said Qodeid for many years, explored watercolor with Mohammed Jaamati, and learned printmaking techniques with Hector Saunier and David Del Almeida. She also completed a bachelor’s degree in Art History in France, and more recently a Master’s degree in Philosophy of Science, echoing the tradition of humanist artists who weave together art and knowledge.
Mouna’s work focuses on modern Moroccan cityscapes and street scenes. Through a palette of broken tones, pastel hues, and expressive brushstrokes, she creates a poetic atmosphere where each canvas tells a story, inviting the viewer into its mystery while preserving its silence.
